History of the Concert Band
In the Spring of 2011, the Concert Band was formed. Initially made up of members of the marching band that wanted continue playing in the off season, the Concert Band held a balanced instrumentation and continued to grow. The Concert Band has grown to feature musicians from all majors and musical backgrounds. Not only has it grown in size, but the skill of the musicians has allowed the Concert Band to expand its repertoire. In 2014, the Concert Band was offered in the Fall for the first time, putting on concerts twice a year.
With increasing interest in the Marching, Concert, and Jazz bands, a new ensemble was formed to provide musical selections in a more delicate, intimate setting. In the Spring of 2014, the Wind Ensemble was formed. Made of woodwinds and brass, this small chamber ensemble features one musician per part, demanding more skill and delicacy from the musicians.
